Jeff Walz was a Democratic candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the 5th Congressional District (map) of Wisconsin. He was seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge incumbent Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.).

Walz was seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) in the 2008 congressional elections.^[1][2]

Collaboration with James Burkee

James Burkee, a Republican contender for the seat, and Jeff Walz will appear together on the campaign trail and will combine their promotional efforts in the campaign, despite running against each other for the seat.

"We are going to run against each other but with one another, if that makes sense," Burkee said.

The two candidates, both professors will publish a pact laying out their campaign ground rules, from no personal attacks to no money from special interest groups.

Walz commented, "What people want is just a greater sense of decency, a greater sense of cooperation, a greater sense of collaboration," continuing that he and Burkee are "a Democrat and Republican joining forces to tackle and address the important issues."^[3]
