“BP is directly responsible for this disaster, and our government must also take responsibility for letting them drill in such a clearly unsafe manner. This broken system won’t change unless we elect representatives who are willing to stand up to the big oil companies, enforce real safeguards, and make them pay for every penny of the cost of this spill, so that they know they can’t afford to let it happen again.”-Kuster

“We must become more energy independent, end the massive taxpayer subsidies to big oil and power companies, and stop sending oil money to countries that support terrorist groups. We can do all that while creating good jobs here at home if we instead support clean energy technologies, like the New Hampshire companies that already employ thousands making better solar panels in Merrimack, wood pellet supply systems in the Monadnock region, low-energy lighting in Nashua, more efficient computing in Hanover, and those that harvest timber and wind in the North Country.”-Kuster

“Climate change is real, and we need to give companies incentives to create energy in low-carbon ways that don’t leave taxpayers with the clean-up costs. By ending the massive taxpayer subsidies for big oil and power companies and instead investing in clean energy technologies, we can fight climate change, create good jobs, and cut our dependence on foreign oil.”-Kuster

Kuster believes in better intelligence coordination. “The tragedy of September 11 could have been prevented if our intelligence system had worked together and focused on communicating threats and sharing information rather than arguing about turf. We’ve made progress implementing the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission but there is still a ways to go – we need to force better intelligence coordination, more support for first-responders, increased port security and we must work aggressively to prevent nuclear weapons from reaching terrorist hands.”-Kuster

“I helped lawmakers create the NH Medication Bridge program to help seniors afford their medicine, and I know firsthand that families and small businesses are being crushed under soaring health care costs and insurance premiums. It was important to pass national health care reform so that insurance companies can no longer deny coverage to people who get sick or have a pre-existing condition, and now we need to finish the job and find new ways to lower the cost of care.”- Kuster
